I'm James — a backend-focused software engineer at Purple Ventures (Robinhood), building high-throughput rider-platform services in Go and Java — including leading a Java-to-Go migration of the Job Allocation engine that significantly reduced infrastructure costs. Before that I spent four years at Dek-D growing from intern to full-time backend developer, migrating services to Go and building core APIs for its novel and webtoon platforms. I studied Computer and Information Science at KMUTNB and was a Google Developer Student Club Lead and Microsoft Learn Student Ambassador.

- ›Led the migration of the Job Allocation engine from Java to Go, significantly reducing infrastructure costs and improving concurrent request handling and system throughput.
- ›Built scalable rider-platform services in Java (Spring Boot) and Go (Clean Architecture), using Kafka/SQS for event-driven workflows, PostgreSQL/MongoDB/Redis for data handling, and AWS (API Gateway, AppSync, Batch, S3) to support high-throughput, low-latency delivery operations.

C++ Auto Grader

Automated grading for a university programming course

▸ My role

Solo developer — design, backend, frontend, deployment

▸ Problem

Computer Programming students at KMUTNB needed a way to submit C/C++ code and get it graded automatically, instead of TAs checking every submission by hand.

▸ Outcome

Used by junior students in a university Computer Programming course for a full semester.

▸ What I built

01Built a PHP + MySQL web app where students submit C/C++ code; the server compiles it with GCC on Linux and checks the output against test cases.
02Added an AdminLTE dashboard for instructors to manage problems, students and scores.
03After a semester in production, documented the lessons — Windows vs. Linux output mismatches, memory limits and a hard-to-use admin side — and designed a queue-based rewrite on Node.js and MongoDB to remove the grading bottleneck.
